This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, GritBreath (the "Application"). The Application is designed to help you measure, track, and improve your breath-holding capacity and overall respiratory wellness.

The Application is designed to function primarily with locally stored data on your device using AsyncStorage. We do not require you to create an account or provide directly identifying personal information beyond what is necessary for the app's functionality.

• Locally Stored Data (via AsyncStorage):
  • Test History Data: Information about your breath-hold tests, including the date, duration (in seconds), and a unique ID for each test result (e.g., stored under a key like `@BreathTestHistory`). This data is used to populate your progress history chart and list.
  • User Preferences (Potentially): While not explicitly implemented yet for settings beyond history, future versions might store preferences such as display settings or notification preferences locally.
• Derivative Data (Potentially Collected by Third-Party Services):
  • Standard technical information may be collected by underlying operating systems or third-party services integrated into the Expo framework (e.g., `react-native-svg`, `react-native-chart-kit`, `lucide-react-native`, `@react-native-async-storage/async-storage`). This may include IP address, device information, and usage statistics. This data is generally anonymized or aggregated and not directly accessed or stored by us in a way that personally identifies you.
• Third-Party Services:
  • Expo: The Application is built using Expo, which may collect diagnostic and usage data. Please refer to the Expo Privacy Policy for more details.

We do not knowingly collect personal information beyond what is necessary for the Application's local functionality or what might be incidentally collected by the third-party services integrated into the application.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information collected and stored locally on your device is used solely to:

• Provide and manage the core features of the Application (breath-hold testing, assessment, history tracking, and recommendations).
• Display your test results and progress over time.
• Save your test history for your review.
• (If implemented) Save your preferences and settings for a personalized experience.
• Improve the Application's functionality and user experience (based on aggregated, non-identifiable data if any such analytics are implemented in the future).

3. Disclosure of Your Information

As the Application primarily stores data locally on your device, we do not disclose your personal test data to third parties, except in the following very limited circumstances:

• With Service Providers: Underlying services like Expo operate under their own privacy policies, as mentioned above. We do not directly share your specific test data with them.
• For Legal Requirements: If required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or other legal process, we may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request. However, given the local nature of data storage, our ability to access and provide such data is extremely limited.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to help protect the information stored locally on your device via AsyncStorage. However, please remember that no system of data storage or transmission is 100% secure. The security of your data also depends on the security of the device you use to access the Application.

5. Data Retention

Your breath test history data is retained locally on your device as long as the Application is installed and the data is not cleared by you (e.g., using the "Clear History" feature) or by the Application's standard functionality. If you uninstall the Application, the locally stored data will typically be removed by the operating system.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Since data is stored locally, you have direct control over it:

• Access: You can access your test history directly within the Application on the "History" screen.
• Correction: The Application does not currently offer a feature to edit past test results. Test results are recorded as they occur.
• Deletion: You can delete your entire test history through the "Clear History" feature within the Application. Uninstalling the Application will also remove its data from the device.
• Opt-out of Communications: The Application does not have external communication features like email newsletters. Any local notifications (if implemented in the future) could be managed via your device's notification settings for the Application.

7. Children's Privacy

The Application is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information (which is unlikely given the app's local data nature), we will take steps to delete such information.

8. International Data Transfers

The data you create within the Application (your test history) is stored locally on your device. If you use services like those provided by Expo, their data handling is subject to their respective policies, which may involve international data transfers.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will endeavor to notify you of any significant changes, for example, by posting the new Privacy Policy within the Application or on an associated website (if applicable) and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
